I did not retain them, but I am leaving a review anyway because they did me a great service by sending me away. I’ll give the short version of the long story. I had a criminal case. I learned that one of the workers at Bakersfield Paralegal had written some criminal defense books, so I tired to hire him to do paperwork on my case so I could represent myself. He told me that it would be a mistake to try to represent myself in a criminal matter and he told me that the public defenders are really good attorenys. He explained the criminal process to me, but I still tried to represent myself. Everything he said was completely accurate. I did need an attorney and I had to ask for one in the middle of a hearing. the public defender assigned to my case was very good. She got everything dismissed. Bakersfield Paralegal dealt me a solid by explaining how things really work in a criminal case. If you have ANY legal problems I STRONGLY suggest that you go to Bakersfield Paralegal. They REALLY help people even if that means sending them away and not making any money.

Although I did not hire them, I feel compelled to leave a review for this find organization because they provided me with a valuable service by redirecting me to the Public Defender. In a nutshell, I initially approached them to handle the paperwork for my criminal case. However, the gentleman who helped me (Richard?) advised me against representing myself and emphasized the competence of public defenders in criminal matters. He explained the way criminal cases work, and every word he said was exactly right.

I’m leaving a five star review, but I did not hire them. I was being evicted. I took my papers to them and tried to hire them, but they explained the entire process to me and helped me call GBLA to get free services of an attorney. They could have simply taken my money, but they helped me by NOT taking my case. Thank god for people like this.
